1. SEEKING SF BAY AREA HOUSING FOR LESLIE FISH: 2/24/2008-3/7/2008
------------------------------------------------------

Okay, you've probably all figured out the "secret project" from that
headline, so here's the scoop.

Leslie Fish will be coming out to record an album of her pagan songs
this spring, with Kristoph Klover producing. Most of the songs will
draw from her long out-of-print "Chickasaw Mountain" album, but we
plan to record at least 3-5 other tracks.

Because Leslie's traditional Bay Area roommate is sick, we are
looking for a host in the San Francisco Bay Area for Leslie during
these two weeks of recording. An ideal host would be able to
provide:

- access to a BART station, or within quick driving distance of
Kristoph & Margaret (Oakland, CA - 94605)
- a guest room with a clean bed
- understanding of the fact that Leslie smokes

Do note that Leslie will be very busy during this time with
recording sessions, so I expect she will mostly be needing a place
primarily to sleep. Personally, I would be offering to host her if I
weren't living in Holland - I am personally envious of whoever has
the opportunity to get to know Leslie a bit better!

I also want to add my personal and enormous thanks to Margaret Davis
for her project management work on this album. There's just no way it
would be happening at this time without her efforts.

2. SOFTWARE ENGINEERING RADIO AIRS GOD WROTE IN LISP
------------------------------------------------------

I am tickled to be able to share that Software Engineering Radio
<http://se-radio.net> has concluded a recent interview segment with
Dick Gabriel with Bob Kanefsky's song "God Wrote in LISP" in its
entirety (from the Roundworm CD).

You can hear the segment at:

http://cdn.libsyn.com/seradio/seradio-episode84-dickGabrielOnLisp.mp3

(Parenthetically, for any filk old-timers, Dick Gabriel was friends
with the late Dandelion Digital publisher Leonard
Zubkoff: http://www.dreamsongs.com/Leonard.html )

3. DOWNLOAD "CRIMSON & CRYSTAL" -- PERFORMED BY THE LATE CINDY
MCQUILLIN
------------------------------------------------------

Many of you may know the song "Crimson and Crystal" by Cynthia
McQuillin through Julia Ecklar's Divine Intervention album recording.
But I'd like to share with you how Cindy originally had imagined the
song, which is quite different from how most people know it today.

You can download it at:

http://www.prometheus-music.com/eb/CrimsonAndCrystal.mp3

This MP3 is from a very rare, early recording converted to a digital
form by Harold Stein, and provided courtesy of Shadowsinger Records
[an imprint of Flowinglass dedicated to keeping Cindy's music
available].

4. PER MALM'S FILK VIDEOS -- NOW AVAILABLE AS HIGHER-RESOLUTION
DOWNLOADS
------------------------------------------------------

A few years back, Per Malm produced music videos of Julia Ecklar's
"Terminus Est" and her cover of Leslie Fish's song "Hope Eyrie" --
with actors (okay, Per's kids and friends) and all!

These have received a very warm reception, with over 25,000 viewings
on YouTube. I am pleased to be able to share higher-quality downloads
of these videos. Unfortunately, I'm sorry we couldn't get full DVD
quality on these (none of us can find the DVD!), but I think you'll
find quality still to be at least a bit better than YouTube.

You can download them at:

- Terminus Est:
http://www.prometheus-music.com/eb/TerminusEst-PerMalm.mp4

- Hope Eyrie:
http://www.prometheus-music.com/eb/HopeEyrie-PerMalm.mp4

Also, you can still find Thu's To Touch the Stars videos -- and
other prior Eagle Bytes downloads -- at:
http://www.prometheus-music.com/eb/

5. PANDORA'S SOAPBOX
------------------------------------------------------

I'm in the Netherlands finishing my masters degree. I live with
three Dutch students, and I kind of speak Dutch now. It's very nice
here, but I guess I do have to go back to the States at the end of
July (someone has to mail out Prometheus CDs!)

Yours,

Eli

P.S. And congratulations to Kathy Mar for being selected as the
first-ever Music Guest at a North American World Science Fiction
Convention! For more information on this summer's Denvention
WorldCon, check out <http://www.denvention3.org>.
